The Fayette County Cooperative Extension Service, the University of Kentucky (UK) Alumni Association and UK Human Resources STEPS Temporary Employment are pleased to announce the winter/spring 2023 Job Club schedule.

The purpose of Job Club is to provide a positive environment for job seekers to meet, connect, share, and learn. Job Club is for you if you are motivated and currently out of work, underemployed or looking to make a career transition. The free group is open to the public and meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, from 9:00–10:15 a.m. We welcome extension office partners across the state as we continue to expand the footprint of Job Club. Participants may attend online via zoom or at any of the small group locations following the schedule below. In addition, recruiters and employers are always welcome and may have a one-minute spotlight to share active job leads with Job Club attendees. Stay tuned for upcoming announcements on Job Club’s exciting expansion and rebranding.

Panelists include representatives from UK Alumni Career Services, Lexington Public Library, KY Career Center, Kentucky Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Goodwill Industries of Kentucky

March 28: Job Applications 101

April 11: Making Expungements Work for your Communities

Presented by Dennis Ritchie, J.D., Sr. Director of Reentry and Young Adult Services, Goodwill Industries of Kentucky, Inc.

This session will focus on the shortage of labor in various industries and how expungements help increase the number of available employees (the why). What is an expungement, how to get an expungement, and how goodwill facilitates the process will be addressed along with expungement reform.

May 9: Preparing for Your Next Interview

Presented by Audrey Jones, MSHRMD, SHRM-CP, HR Analyst, Lexington Fayette County Government

This course is designed to provide employees with information and techniques to help them best present themselves as a candidate during the interview process. This course will provide an overview of interviewing fundamentals and tips on how to succeed in your next interview by illustrating several of the most common types of interview questions and insights into appropriate responses. It will also share ideas and suggestions to help candidates prepare for all aspects of an interview, from research to post-interview follow-up actions.
